Q. How do you cite a source?

How you cite a source will depend on which output style you are using and what type of material you are trying to source.

We have lots of information available on how to cite materials in APA, MLA, Chicago, etc. on our Research Help and Information Literacy page under the "Citing Sources" tab.

On this page you'll find information and links to help you create a citation page, like this page from Cornell University on how to prepare an annotated bibliography. You'll also find citation generators like KnightCite and multiple online style guides. Check out these from the OWL at Purdue University:

There are more resources and tools available on the Research Help and Information Literacy page. You can also contact the Writing Center for help or ask at the circulation desk for a librarian to assist you.
