Q. how do i find an online subscription to a periodical?
A periodical is an item that is printed at regular intervals. Often they contain articles written by those in the subject field the periodical is about and contain vocabulary of the subject field in the articles. They are reviewed for publication by those from that field of study. To locate periodicals, it is best to use a database. There is a database link in the drop down menu under the FIND tab at the top of the library's main page (library.mercyhurst.edu). Select subscription databases under the database drop down menu. Selecting a database depends on the subject you would like to find articles about.
If you open Academic Search Complete, you can click on "Advanced Search" options:
Once the Advanced Search page has loaded, scroll down to the limiters. Here you will find a section to limit by date and type of publication. You will want to select periodicals. After selecting periodicals, simply return to the top of the advanced search page and enter your search terms.
Don't forget to use AND, OR, NOT Boolean Operators to help guide your search. Also feel free to use the advance search capabilities in other databases, they all work similar.
